Hi guys, above error raised when i try to execute the command " sc \\server1 query messenger" from a windows XP host. server1 is a windows 2003 sp1 standard edition server. But I can execute the same command for server2, server3 etc. where server2 and server3 have the same OS as in server1. please let me know what are the steps (changes) should be taken to work above command in server1?

hi Bujacmb did running as domain admins fix your problem?

it did work for me when an account is member of domain admins group. Win2k8 seems to be case sensitive on the service names where as win2k3 is not. make sure you get the service name correctly. - Kaladhar B
